Demography Versus Policy

I have read several articles anticipating the battlegrounds for the 2012 U.S. presidential election, some 16 months away. The most intriguing to me are the simplest: simple demographics favor President Obama's re-election (decline of white voters from nearly 90 percent some 30 years ago to about 75 percent), while simple economic policy does not (positive yet weak economic growth, unemployment stubbornly hovered around nine percent where presidents have not won re-election with higher than 8.2 percent unemployment).

Stay tuned.
