Zen: The Art of Doing the Opposite

I like to read my teabags from the Good Earth tea company.  Here's one that Elsie the Cat and I appreciate: "I shut my eyes in order to see. "(Paul Gauguin 1848-1903, French painter)  The more we see, the less we observe, Gauguin appears to be saying.  We do seem to lose our capacity to observe the more our attention is directed away from what is in front of our nose.
